How the Campbell-Anderson Memorial Scholarship came about.
Lake Country Acres is a small subdivision about halfway between Granbury, Tx and Weatherford, Tx down hwy 51. The people in this small neighborhood knows everyone and their hamster. In 2014 two families, who live in what you would call LCA, greatly suffered the impact that suicide leaves on people's lives. In April, Jessica Anderson and her family, lost her beloved brother Larry Anderson who was 33 years old. Not long after in July, Marsha David and her family lost her dear oldest son Dustin Campbell at 19 years old. The great devastation left on the community was too much for the families and the young people so I decided I could make a difference, or try! I started up a scholarship account and 5k walk to raise money for the scholarships. That's how this began. Each year as I learn more and more, I am able to make things better to raise more money for scholarships. I hope to have more events and projects other than our 5k walk. I only hope to inspire you all! Suicide shouldnt be a "hush hush" word. It needs to be talked about more because it happens all too often.
